We’d like to wish all our followers and supporters a merry and enjoyable festive season.
120 years since the opening of No. 3 dry dock, 2018 has certainly been a significant year for Govan’s historic graving docks.
We’ve seen proposals announced to bring the docks back into use as a working ship repair yard and the plans to redevelop the site for up to 700 flats decisively refused planning consent.
For our part we have launched a Big Lottery funded community consultation in Govan on the future of the docks. This is well underway and will be stepping up a gear or two in the new year so do keep up to date with us for news of consultation events. We will be running more pop-up stalls, starting guided walks, community and stakeholder events and more!
We are optimistic that 2019, the 150th anniversary of construction starting on the first dry dock at Govan, may be the year the future of the graving docks is finally settled.
