We are a local charity in Govan, concerned with the long term protection of Govan’s iconic A-listed graving docks, as a heritage asset for future generations and for the benefit of the local economy.
The graving dock site has been described by Historic Scotland as “An outstanding graving dock complex without parallel in Scotland”
- Could Govan become one of Scotland’s major tourist destinations, along with with ship repair returning to the docks and long term skilled jobs being created?
- Could the site become a hub for social enterprise?
- Could the graving docks become a visitor attraction on a par with Belfast’s multi-award winning Titanic Quarter or the New York Highline?
What else could be done with the public areas of Govan Graving Docks?
These are just some of the questions that we aim to address in the conversation we will be rolling out with community and maritime stakeholders in the coming months.
